March 20th 1811.

We have the honour to draw your attention to the following.

Wins

We r aproanted to the Staff or Que n' College and not

to the Education Department, and felt justified in considering our chances of promotion accordingly. But with le departure of Dr. Wright Queen's Jollage was brought under the Education Department, amongst other tunge wils apparently allows persons appointed under the Education Departmant to be trans- ferred to Quean's Jellege, and already one, Mr.

JAM38, has baan transferred to wasn'a Jollage, thus blocking the chances

of promotion of all die men under him,

The hardship of this is emphasised by the fact that

Mr. James though on no higher grade in the Service when several of us as drawing en axtra personal allowance or $60

per manSSE.

We may say that ther en appointed under the Rłucation Department, though much junior to some of us were almost immediately placed on an equal or higher salary Llan SOLO 01 us. Thərə appears to be nouan, to prevent any ui ulese men from being transferrad zu Quem'. Qlluga: why would tilus come in and thorah junior in pusillen draw a higher sa salary than wa cen (Mr. James 14 al produnt drawing a salary higher than two man s nior to ham).

We bag to point out the hardellap (1 this invidious distinction. We already draw lary 30 meagre up to пace801- tete borrowing to go home and cut 3 cut: the cool el lavang in Ulla Colony is steadily rising the making our conditions sora dif.1cult still.

1. We varafors bag that we may receive "a personal allowance" similar to that given to Mr. James,
